SoulFire4TheGulf a ceremony of healing and renewal, for the people, the land and the waters of the Gulf, as envisioned by Dr. John and Mz. imani, in collaboration with Turtle Women Rising.
Dr. John returns to Brooklyn to instigate and collaborate with Mz. imani and the Rhythm Shamans for a night of Music and Mojo Making Action, to benefit SoulFire4TheGulf, on August 26, 2011. Dr. John is an American singer/songwriter, pianist and guitarist, whose music combines blues, pop, jazz as well as Zydeco, boogie woogie and rock and roll. He has become legendary for his wildly theatrical stage show inspired by medicine shows, Mardi Gras costumes and voodoo ceremonies. Dr. John continues to write, arrange, produce and interpret with a passion that has yet to wane.
Mz. imani returns to the stage with Sera Solstice, Aliza and the Rhythm Shamans to supercharge the space with the rhythm and rhyme of the feminine divine.
The Rhythm Shamans will bookend this evening of ceremony, celebration and musical mojo and merry making. With Gratitude and Intention, Mz. imani and The Rhythm Shamans will open the space for Dr. John to step up and do his thing!
Aliza Hava will take us from the opening prayer into the now, singing her souls message of peace and inspiring us to action.
Sera Solstice will take us into the realm of Sacred Dance as she brings her fluid and breathtaking form to offer healing for the waters and the instigation of fire within.
